Ep. 43 How the Coronavirus has changed the way we RV

In this episode, we discuss how the Coronavirus has changed the way we RV. A big part of RVing is being social which is tough when we are all trying to do our part to slow down the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing. We talk about how we are turning down invites to campfires and how Kenny wouldn’t even accept a business card from someone and how it made him feel as if he was being rude to the person.

There is also the slowing down of traveling and exploring, with most tourist sites closed we are not able to go out and explore the way we normally do. We are all doing our best to hunker down and stay put, which actually has been challenging as well with the closing of campgrounds.

We were both lucky enough to find campgrounds that were open and would allow us to stay, but it wasn’t easy. Luckily, this is all temporary and by doing what is necessary today we will be able to get back to enjoying RVing again soon.

RVing certainly does look different these days, but there is a bright side of slowing down our travels and staying put. We have been able to catch up with family and friends, pick up new hobbies, even learn new things like how to day trade in the stock market.

Take care everyone, safe travels and be well.

Have you thought of having any podcast having to do with healthcare and doctor appointments while RVing? We were finally able to travel more in our RV when in January 2020 I went to the emergency room. The day before we were to leave. I spent 2 whole weeks in the hospital. Where I many diagnoses including pneumonia, possible cancer, hereditary diseases, etc. I’ve had many follow ups, more CT scans, xRays, scopes, blood work, etc. With my symptoms I now can’t help but wonder if I had Covid-19. It’s now been over 3 months and I still have constant pain. More so when I cough, sneeze, yawn, take a deep breath, etc. After arriving to Georgia I had to drive to Florida to another CT to compare the scan to previous scans to see if my lungs were clear. It took 3-4 weeks to finally get the results to my doctor so that he could compare them. And for them to call me. By then the seem to think I had emphysema. The office tried to set me up with appointment over the phone (something like that). But I was told that he couldn’t because I was in Georgia. Before I left indiana he said that I could do the CT in Florida and he could compare it to the others. Knowing that I still have pain I don’t know if it’s my lungs, my liver or cancer. And it’s hard to see a doctor now. After saying all of that….my question would be how does one take care or or follow up with there health? Without having to drive 700 miles to see my doctor. Which can’t see me in person now anyway. According to the nurse.
I know this was lengthy. I will totally understand if you can answer or respond. Be safe and stay healthy! And thanks for being in the front line!
    Thank you,
    Kathy

      Hi Kathy
I know that healthcare is tricky for RVers. Where is your home/domicile? If you live in Florida, you could consider the Florida Blue plan which allows you to get treatment all over the US. One of the many reasons full-time travelers choose to domicile in Florida is because of that healthcare plan. You could also consider telemedicine options. It is very tough. Kenny and I will search for a healthcare provider that has solved this for RVers and try to get them on the show.
Thanks for listening. Kenny and I hope your health improves and you get to travel worry free across the country in your RV.

Sean, thank you for responding so quickly! I was not expecting that. I am from Indiana. Which is where my doctors are. I am work camping in Georgia. But, I went across the state line to Florida for my CT. Evidently, according to the person that called me to set up an appointment to receive a call from my doctor told me that he couldn’t talk to me in Georgia. Again, thank you! Be safe!
