KOA to build a campground at a Loves
Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) announced that it has signed a franchise agreement with Love’s Travel Stops to build a new KOA campground at the Love’s location in McComb, Mississippi.
Senior Director of Franchise Development Larry Brownfield said the campground will be a KOA Journey, currently only in the development stage. It will have all of the services and amenities required of other Journey parks in the KOA system.
North American recreational vehicle shipments surge in Q1
The US recreational vehicle industry continued its pandemic-driven boom in the first quarter of 2021, underscoring the lingering impact of the health and economic crisis on American consumer buying and leisure-time habits. (From Reuters)
Kenny and Sean share their thoughts on why the industry continues to boom even when COVID-19 cases are coming down.
Harvest Hosts Acquires Boondockers Welcome
Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Hosts will continue to operate independently, with separate membership plans. Travelers can choose to be members of one or both programs, and existing rates will remain unchanged. In the coming months, the companies will merge, allowing the company to invest in more product features and functions that enhance the experience for guests and hosts of both programs.
We had Joel Holland, CEO of Harvest Host, on episode 31 of Beyond the Wheel. He seems like a great guy, and we wish him continued success with the addition of Boondockers Welcome.
Theft of Catalytic converters
There has been a surge of catalytic converter thefts across the country, and several RVs have been targeted. We are guessing that the ample ground clearance combined with the size and weight of an RV catalytic converter makes for an excellent score for thieves.
New Ford F53 Chassis Recall
Safety Risk: In the event of the rear axle or Driveshaft failure, customers may experience loss of vehicle motive power, loss of transmission park function, and loss of parking brake function, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Safety recall is for their new F53 chassis, which came out late 2019 and includes all gas Class A RVs. The recall number is 21S17. If you believe your chassis is part of this recall, contact Ford to find out for sure. Have your VIN ready so they can look up your particular chassis.
