Driver’s Edition: New In The World Of RVing

Will Canadian snowbirds be allowed entry in US campgrounds this year?

Canada’s National Private Campground Association estimates that there are between 50,000 – 200,000 Canadian Snowbirds who travel in an RV or stay seasonally during the spring to fall months at Canadian private or Government-owned campgrounds but live in the U.S. during winter months. However, the majority of private campgrounds in Canada (outside of British Columbia) are seasonal businesses. Also, these campgrounds were not designed, nor are they capable, of operating water and septic infrastructure/essential services without risking permanent damage to the components in extremely cold weather.

As a potential solution, CCRVC is partnering with the Hotel Association of Canada to offer discounted daily and longer-term accommodations to Canadian snowbirds who may not have any other options available to them. Another alternative could be opening the US/Canada border one-way for Canadians to travel to the U.S., but not for U.S. travel into Canada. The Canadian RV and camping industry is committed to serving a crucial role to help combat the public health emergency the pandemic presents and is ready and willing and able to be an important resource.

Living Vehicle unveiled its luxury new travel trailer RV with a convertible home office.

The trailer comes in three different models ranging from $229,995 to $369,995, but the only difference between the three is the power systems. The luxury home on wheels can optionally come with a home office set up that transforms the bedroom into a workspace for digital nomads or people working remotely amid the pandemic. The Core, Max, and Pro are all powered by Volta Power Systems’ lithium-ion battery, which also doubles as an electric vehicle charger. The slide system reveals more solar panels. Made with an aluminum exterior and stainless steel components, the 2021 Living Vehicle’s reminds of of an Airstream.

Should locals embrace motorhomes to boost the economy?

This is the title of an article from a Canadian website. It raised the question to us: why wouldn’t you want RVers to visit your community? Then, we saw another article from Gilchrist County (Florida), where residents fight back against the proposed RV Park. There was a local who was quoted saying, “I view this development as a threat to the safety of my family and I spoke about the traffic impact of 1,029 RV’s per day that is going to be added to our roadway directly across from our house. Directly on our roads outside our home. That’s 1,029 more chances for my family to be in a car accident with an RV.” Apparently there is fear that we never knew about having RVers in a community.

We visited some virtual RV show and have to say we really enjoyed them.

Camping World, in particular, did a fantastic job of bringing all of the best parts of an RV show without the crowds. They even did show pricing and giveaways. We watched several days of this particular show and hope this is something that continues in the future even after the pandemic is over.

The new Bronco is coming soon.

Will it be a contender to knock the Jeep Wrangler out as the preferred tow vehicle for RVers? Let us know what you think in the comment section below, Kenny is really looking forward to checking out the Bronco in person next spring as a potential toad vehicle.
