UL-2054, UL-62133, & UN38.3 Transportation Testing

Battle Born Batteries have many products certified to the stringent standards of UL-2054, UL-62133, and UN38.8. These certifications are essential for ensuring the safety and quality of the products, and they take great pride in meeting or exceeding the requirements of each one.

Battle Born Models & Safety Certifications include:

  • BB10012: UN38.3, UL/CSA-62133-2, UL-2054
  • BBGC2: UN38.3, UL/CSA-62133-2, UL-2054
  • BBGC3: UN38.3
  • BB8D: UN38.8

UL-2054 Safety Certification

UL-2054 is a standard for safety for commercial and household batteries. These requirements are intended to reduce the risk of fire or explosion in lithium batteries. It contains 18 tests that products need to pass, including seven electrical tests, four mechanical tests, and even a fire exposure test. The standard includes requirements for designing, manufacturing, testing, labeling, and shipping lithium-ion batteries. The Battle Born Batteries BB10012 and BBGC2 adhere to all of the requirements of UL-2054 to ensure that their products are safe and reliable. This certification is required for a wide range of items.

UL-62133 Safety Certification

UL-62133 is a standard for safety for portable sealed secondary cells. The requirements of this standard are even more stringent than those of UL-2054, and Battle Born Batteries’ BB10012 and BBGC2 meet or exceed all of them. This standard brings UL in line with international standards set by the International Electrochemical Commission. For lithium-ion cells and batteries, IEC 62133 contains external short-circuit (cell & battery), free fall, crush (cells), battery over-charging, forced discharge of cells, and mechanical tests.

Commonly, UL-62133 certification is an extremely important requirement for electric vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, and buses. These vehicles rely heavily on their batteries to power and keep them running safely and efficiently. This is why it’s so important that these batteries must meet the requirements of UL-62133 before they are used in these vehicles.

UN 38.3 Safety Certification

UN 38.3 is a United Nations Transportation Testing Procedure for Lithium Ion Batteries. In terms of lithium battery transportation safety, UN 38.3 is the most common standard in the world. This certification is required for shipments of lithium-ion batteries by air, land, or sea. The testing required for UN38.8 certification includes altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, external short circuit, impact & crush, overcharge, and forced discharge testing. Many of Battle Born Batteries’ most popular models have successfully passed this testing. This certification ensures that their products can be safely transported by virtually any means.

UN 38.3 certification is required for various products, including lithium batteries used in electronic devices such as laptops, cell phones, and digital cameras. It is also required for any type of lithium-ion battery shipped via air, land, or sea, including batteries used in electric vehicles such as cars, buses, and motorcycles. It is also important for watch batteries, medical device batteries, and batteries for other electronic products. The rigorous testing requirements of the UN38.3 standard ensure that these products are safe and reliable when transported by any means, including RVs.
